In the paper Yuri Lotman¡¦s concept of semiosphere and paradoxes in it are analysed. The most important paradox is that semiosphere as a whole rejects the principles of identity and causality on which, for example, all the physical systems are based. Semiotically, not necessarily A=A in case when we are dealing with sign and its object: sign simultaneously is and is not identical with its object. When we are discussing sign and its meaning, we often find that meaning is at the same time antecedent and subsequent, the cause and its result.
