Abstract

Poetry about immortals remains the most influential works of Guo Pu. to his later literature realm Guo Pu is thought to be the pioneer in reforming and developing poetry about immortals. This article will refer to the activities of Guo Pu recorded in the annual of history and reveal the heavy oppression of the social estate system in the Jin Dynasty, the dual thoughts of Confucianism and Taoism, and the spirit of romanticism represented by people's love for old fairy tales, which accounted for the reasons for Guo Pu's writing his poetry about immortals. I hope there will be a help to the studies of Guo Pu's poetry about immortals.
